Sweet and Salty Trail Mix

I think it’s safe to say that the InDependent team is obsessed with food. When we were on our leadership retreat we were constantly talking about, planning for, preparing, or eating food. Meg is just weeks away from giving birth to her baby girl, so her sticking to a food schedule makes sense, but the rest of us were pretty keen on staying on schedule with meals and snacks too.

When we sat down for one planning session, I pulled out some homemade trail mix that I had brought from home. Leslie was sitting beside me on the couch so I shared with her. I guess she liked it because she asked if I would make it in bulk to send to her. I told her it is so super easy to make, it wouldn’t be worth it to mail. All she would have to do is dump three ingredients together.

I have braces on my teeth right now, so if I’m going to eat something hard or sticky, it has to be pretty small. I also avoid sugar and long ingredient lists so my old favorite trail mix with the M&M’s is a no go. This has become my go-to snack to have in my bag when I’m on a road trip or will be out and about during mealtimes. It’s also a perfect cure for a sweet and salty craving.
