Favorite Healthy Snack Options

Favorite Healthy Snack OptionsI think I have mentioned this before, but I love snacking throughout the day. So when Leslie mentioned on InDependents Facebook page that she would rather reach for coconut chips than a bag of potato chips it got me thinking, What are my favorite healthy snacks?

If you really know me, you know that I used to eat Reeses Pieces or have some other savory, unhealthy snack option on my desk at all times. Within the past year, I have changed my ways and I keep healthier snack options nearby. These healthy snack options include coconut chocolate balls (for my sweet tooth), oatmeal chocolate chip banana cookies (strangely delicious), and different varieties of green smoothies (keeping me energized).

Funny thing, it turns out that these healthy snacks hold me over until lunch and keep me from having mid-afternoon crashes. Who would have thunkit?

Just make sure that your snacking does not drastically increase your caloric intake or decrease your nutrient intake. Smart snacking is key to this equation, so make sure you know how your body reacts to the food you are consuming so you are not sabotaging your health goals. This often means choosing the right nutsto eat or swapping out your current favorite snacks with healthier snack options.

With so many healthy snack options out there, we recently asked our Facebook readers to tell us their favorite healthy snack foods.

Check out their responses below. Feel free to add your response as well in the comments section below.
